Abstract

Tablet dyes are made by mixing dry the following ingredients:-a dye, a binding-agent, and a hydrated salt, such as Glauber's salt, capable of giving up its water of crystallization under pressure. The mixture is subjected to pressure, for example 1/2 ton per sq. in., whereupon it assumes a pasty condition and sets when the pressure is released. In an example the mixture consists of a dye, dextrine, Glauber's salt, and anhydrous sodium sulphate.
