Abstract

1,274,118. Glazing bars; double glazing. REALMLAT INVESTMENTS Ltd. 20 Nov., 1970, No. 55330/70. Heading E1R. A glazing bar of uniform cross section preferably of extruded aluminium alloy but may be of non-metallic material or a combination of different materials e.g. metal with non- metallic cladding, comprises a U-shaped channel portion 1 and an externally U-shaped mounting portion 2, one limb 6 of the portion 1 and the base of the portion 2 being in alignment and the flange 9 of portion 2 and the base of portion 1 being in alignment, the portions 1 and 2 being on opposite sides of both alignment planes which intersect at right angles, the portion 2 including means such as the undercut recess 7 for supporting a sealing strip 17 for making sealing contact with a window frame 5 when the mounting portion 2 is fixed close to the frame, when mounting a pane 3 to an existing glazed frame 5 to convert the single glazed window to a double glazed window. In the normal uncompressed state the sealing strip is of tubular form and takes up the condition shown when compressed between the portion 2 and frame 3.
