Abstract

1,273,535. Telescopic tower cranes. W. F. VONCK. 20 May, 1969 [21 May, 1968], No. 24141/68. Heading B8B. A folding crane comprises a tower with two sections 11, 12 and a jib 13 supported by a backstay cable in two sections 18, 46. A towerextension cable 40 is reeved around pulleys 31 to 36 and passes to a tower telescoping winch 41 from which it continues around pulleys 42, 44, 47 and back to pulley 44 as back-stay cable section 46. A derrick winch line 48 passes from the pulley 47 over pulley 49 to a derrick winch 45 which may be operated independently to vary the position of the pulley 47 to luff the jib 13. The height of the tower may be altered by operating the winch 41, the cable 40 taken in or paid out compensating the cable section 46 so that the jib 13 maintains its attitude as the tower height is altered.
