Abstract

1,272,746. Continuous hot dipping process. NATIONAL STEEL CORP. July 31, 1969 [June 6, 1968], No.26890/68. Addition to 1, 127, 832. Heading C7F. In a continuous hot dipping process for coating strip e.g. steel with Zn or Al, and controlling the weight of applied coating by passing the strip through a control zone at the exit side of the coating bath as described in parent Specifications, the present Specification relates to the same process with the exception that an unheated gas e.g. air or N 2 is used in the weight control zone. Furthermore the unheated gas is pumped to the control zone by a gas compressor and the angle of impingement of the gas jets on the strip may vary from 5 degrees below to 15 degrees above the perpendicular (inclusive).
