Abstract

Prodn. of an alloy e.g. Fe/Zn or Fe/Al coating on >=1 surface of a moving metal strip which has passed through a metal coating bath is by directing a flat, high temp. gas jet onto the strip so that the temp. resulting from impact of the jet on the strip is between the fusion temp. of the coating and that of the strip e.g. is approx. 500 degrees for an Fe/Zn alloy.
