Abstract

1,272,335. Electrically released switches. SIMICON CO. 14 May, 1970 [15 Oct., 1969], No. 52837/70. Divided out of 1,272,334. Heading H1N. An electrically released switch has a bimetal strip 80 fixed at one end to a support 68 and at the other to a second bimetal strip 82 arranged to bend in the opposite direction on heating so as to provide ambient temperature compensation, the free end of the second bimetal 82 bearing a latch portion 84 which normally maintains a pair of contact blades 86, 88 in engagement. A heating coil 23 is wound upon the bimetal 80 and when sufficiently energized causes the latch portion to disengage the contact blade 88 and opens the contacts. The contacts are reclosed by pressing and releasing a push button 110; this has a stepped configuration so that the contacts are held apart until the button is released and contact blade 88 is re-engaged with the latch portion 84.
