Abstract
1,265,989. Lift cage gate locking mechanism. A.C.E. MACHINERY Ltd. 28 Oct., 1970 [3 Nov., 1969], No. 53771/69. Heading B8L. A gate locking mechanism mounted on the cage of a hoist having a plurality of landings, comprises a cam and lever system having locking pegs 33 which are engaged by catches 32 on a latch means 31 to prevent opening of the cage gate 18 unless the cage is adjacent a landing. At a landing, a probe wheel 30 on the latch means 31 engages a ramp 34 on the hoist structure causing the latch means to release the cam and lever system to permit gate opening. The cam and lever system comprises a shaft 10 having an operating handle 11 at each end, one inside and one outside the cage, and an eccentric cam 12, 19 therebetween, the cam including a peg 20 for driving a pair of cranked levers 13 coupled through an adjustable rod 16 to the gate release lever 17, and a spring rod 21 for sliding connection with the levers 27 of the latch means 31. The levers 27 are pivoted at 28 to facilitate movement between the catches 32 thereon and the locking pegs 33 on the levers 13.
