Abstract
1,264,531. Light-sensitive, heat-developable photographic materials. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG. CO. Feb.27, 1969 [Feb. 28, 1968], No.10520/69. Heading G2C. A direct positive, light-sensitive, heatdevelopable material contains an organic silver salt, such as silver behenate, a mixture of silver behenate and behenic acid, silver stearate or silver myristate; a reducing agent for silver ions, such as α, α<SP>1</SP>-(3:5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) dimethyl ether or 2, 21 -methylene bis (4-methyl- 6-t-butylphenol); a photo-sensitive silver halide which produces a catalyst on light exposure to accelerate the reaction between the silver salt and the reducing agent; and a source of mercuric ions in an amount sufficient to impart a negative slope to the D log E curve. Phthalazinone is also preferably present. The mercuric ion may be supplied in the form of a halide which will react with the organic silver salt to form the photosensitive silver halide in situ. Sensitizing dyes may be present. On exposure to a light image followed by heat development using the minimum heat to produce maximum useful density in the unexposed areas, a positive image is obtained.
