Abstract

1,263,363. Fluid-fuel burner. COLD FORMED PRODUCTS Ltd. 28 Sept., 1970 [16 Oct., 1969], No. 50828/69. Heading F4T. A fluid-fuel burner comprises a housing 10 defining a fuel-chamber 11, a fuel inlet 12 opening into the chamber, and a bundle of parallel spaced tubular elements 13 mounted in the chamber each open at each end to provide a passage for combustion air and being provided at one end with an enlarged head portion 17 having a non-circular cross-section such that when the bundle of elements is assembled in the chamber with their head portions in contact, fuel outlet orifices are formed between them. Elements 13 are sealed to apertures in the bottom wall 14 of housing 10 by epoxy resin, and the top wall 15 of the housing has a hexagonal opening 16 for receiving portions 17. Each head portion 17 is preferably of hexagonal cross-section with concave walls as in Fig. 4 to define orifices 18 between adjacent elements, the elements being tapered at 19 to reduce the cross-sectional area of orifices 18 to ensure uniform fuel distribution over wall 15. Alternatively each head portion 17 may be provided with spacing ribs (21) on the hexagonal sides as in Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown), or at the corners of the hexagonal sides as in Fig. 7 (not shown).
