A device for restraining animals comprises a pair of fixed members diverging in an upward direction from a gap for the reception of the legs of an animal to define a volume, with at least one end open, for the reception of the animal's body. The members comprise sheet members 2, 4 of chip board which may be curved to conform to the body of the animal and are supported in a tubular framework 6, their lower edges 8, 10 defining a gap of such dimension and spacing from the ground that the animal cannot support all of its weight on its legs. Midway along each member 2, 4 a bracing member 12 is provided which is attached by means of a leg 14 to the rest of the framework. A head support means 16 comprises sheets of chip board 18 supported on tubular frameworks 20 which are hooked on to the top edges of members 2, 4.
