Abstract
126,095. Robeson, W. B. March 18, 1918. Check lift valves. - An auxiliary air inlet device adapted to be actuated by engine suction comprises a valve 11 of truncated pyramid form controlling a similarly shaped seating 9 formed in a plate of the same shape as, and secured between the flanges of the induction pipe and inlet manifold. The valve carries an adjustable screw 16, the inner end of which bears against a loading spring 12, one end of which is fixed at 13, the other end passing through a guide 18. By advancing the screw through the valve, the free end 15 of the spring may be brought into contact with the fixed end, the spring then becoming rigid and acting as a stop to prevent the valve from opening.
