1,259,423. Coating Ni- and Co-base alloys: Rare-earth metal alloys. AVCO CORP. Aug. 11, 1970, No. 38660/70. Headings C7A and C7F. A Ni- or Co-base alloy is diffusion coated with an alloy of Al and a rare-earth, e.g. 55 to 73% cerium, lanthanum, yttrium or Misch metal, and 45 to 27% Al. The process is carried out at 1500 and 2000‹F. in a vacuum furnace or an argon, helium or hydrogen atmosphere. A volatile halide, e.g. NH 4 Cl may be present.
