Abstract
1,258,011. Valves. HARPER-WYMAN Ltd. 12 May, 1969 [20 Feb., 1969], No. 9326/69. Heading F2V. In a gas-flow adjustor, the main flow passage 4 is intersected by a transverse bore 12 within which there is accommodated an adjustor plug 14 of resilient plastics material, the plug having a slotted head 16 which is in screw-threaded engagement 20, 22, with the transverse bore outer portion, and an integral hollow shank 18 which is an interference fit with the transverse bore inner portion. In the embodiment shown, the main passage 4 lies along the axis of the adjustor body 2, although equally well, the passage may be off-set with respect to the axis (Fig. 2, not shown). Furthermore, one or more adjustors may be disposed downstream of a valve plug cock with each such adjustor being fed from the plug cock outlet, (Figs. 3 to 8, not shown). Alternatively, the inlet passage may be intersected by a cross passage with the ends of the passage each opening into a transverse bore accommodating an adjustor plug 14, (Figs. 9 and 10, not shown). In a still further modification (Fig. 11, not shown), a filtering arrangement (94, 96) may be provided downstream of the adjustor plug 14.
