1,256,547. Applying crown corks to bottles. WALKER DESMOND & SONS Ltd. 29 Oct., 1970 [22 Nov., 1969], No. 57269/69. Heading B8T. By operating a manual lever 21 a die 15 is caused to slide down a stationary rod 19 to crimp a crown cork 30 on a bottle 31, and then to slide up again, the end 20 of the rod coming into contact with the crimped cork to disengage it from the dies as the die rises. The operating lever 21 is pivoted at 24 to a block 12, to which the rod 19 is secured, and is connected to the die by pivoted links 28, 29. The bottle 31 stands upon a base (10), Fig. 1 (not shown), to which the support column 11 is attached, and the block 12 is adjustably clamped to the column by a bolt 14.
