Abstract

1,255,781. Container closures. W. R. GRACE & CO. 4 July, 1969 [4 July, 1968], No. 31910/68. Heading B8T. A method of forming a seal in a container closure or can comprises pumping molten thermoplastic composition, used as sealant material, from a storage vessel A to a chamber I which is in communication with a nozzle D to which hot air is supplied from a source H so that the material emerges as a spray. Another method, which has the advantage that only a relatively small pressure head need be applied to a composition to force it to a spray head, consists of maintaining the molten material under pressure in a pot 8 which is situated close to a spray head 1 containing a nozzle 2, for application of the material, which is sheathed by an outer nozzle 3 through which hot air is fed through a line 19.
