Abstract

1,110,647. Sealing containers; coated metal containers. SWISS ALUMINIUM Ltd. 5 April, 1967 [7 April, 1966], No. 15695/67. Headings B8C and B8D. [Also in Division B3] A metal container 1, formed by a deep drawing process, and a lid 2, which is stamped out, are coated on the inside with a stoving lacquer, e.g. phenol and/or epoxy resins, and are stuck together using thermoplastic material, e.g. a xylene solution of ethylene and vinyl acetate, to form a sterilizable container. The sealing material may be applied in molten or solution form on one or both surfaces to be stuck or may be introduced as a ring of solid material 5. The container is sealed using heat and pressure. When the sealing material is applied only to one surface, the heat is applied only to the other.
