Abstract

125,232. Salisbury, E. April 17, 1918. Shedding-motions; selvedge shedding-mechanism.-A tappet-shaft above the loom is driven through chains and a counter-shaft from the bottom shaft, and is provided with tappets for operating the body healds; the harness for fancy and plain selvedges is operated through lever mechanism from tappets on the tappet-shaft and tappets on the counter-shaft respectively. A counter shaft 4, Fig. 1, is driven by a chain 2 and wheels 1, 3 from the bottom shaft, and through a wheel thereon, a chain 6, and a wheel 9 drives a tappetshaft 10, on which are mounted tappets operating on levers pivoted on a shaft 15 and connected to the healds for the body warps. The selvedge harness is carried by bobbins on brackets 21. and is operated by levers 20 secured to pieces 19 on a shaft 17. When fancy selvedges are to be woven, the pieces 19 are connected to levers 13 operated by tappets 11 on the shaft 10. When plain selvedges are to be woven, the pieces 19 are operated by levers connected to the upper ends of forked bars 24, Fig. 3, each carrying a bowl 23 acted on by a tappet 22 on the counter-shaft 4.
