Abstract

Pile-fabric looms.-In terry looms, the variation in the beat-up is effected by pivotally securing the connecting-rods 4 to levers 5, which are pivoted at 5<a> to the lay-swords and of which the position is positively controlled by devices acting on their lower ends. The control may be effected by pins 5<b> on the levers engaging inclined slots 6<a> in vertically sliding pieces 6 actuated by rods 11 and levers 10 on a shaft 12, which is rocked through levers and rods 13, 13<a>, 14, 15 from a crank-wheel 17 rotated by a sliding wheel 18 controlled through a fork 19 by the dobby, jacquard, &c. In another form, the pins 5<b> are engaged by grooved cams actuated through a pinion and a toothed sector, or directly, by a rod connected to the lever 14. Instead of the cams, cranks and connecting- rods may be employed.
