Abstract

1,252,319. Thermal regenerators. SVENSKA ROTOR MASKINER A.B. 16 June, 1970 [16 June, 1969], No. 30314/69. Heading F4K. In a thermal regenerator plate pack in which the individual plates are formed with undulations 12, further deformations 14, termed "double notches" and extending parallel to the undulations 12 are formed in the plate material and extend from the median plane B of the plate to a height greater than that of the undulations so that the notches, which have flattened crest portions 16, form plate spacing means when the plates are stacked as shown in Fig. 4 with the undulations and notches at an angle to the general direction A of gas flow over the plate surface and with the undulations and notches of one plate at an angle, e.g. 20 to 50 degrees to those of an adjacent plate. Preferred dimensions for the undulations and notches are given in the Specification. The web portions 18 of the notches 14 may be perpendicular to or (as shown) angled with respect to the median plane B of the plate. The arrangement is said to provide turbulence and whirling in the fluids flowing between the plates.
