Abstract

1486919 Plate heat exchangers A P V CO Ltd 1 Dec 1975 [18 Dec 1974] 54678/74 Heading F4S A stacked plate heat exchanger having peripheral gaskets defining the edges of flow spaces which are formed with corrugations between adjacent plates 11, 12, the dimensions of the flow space A 2 between the uppermost plate 11 and an intervening plate 12 is of greater cross-sectional dimension than the space A 3 between the plate 12 and the lowermost plate 11 by having plates 11 provided with corrugations less sharply curved at the crests 11a than the troughs 11b of the corrugations, and the plates 12 have corrugations more sharply curved at the crests 12a than at the troughs 12b. The corrugations of adjacent plates cross and abut and the size of the space A 2 may be further increased by eliminating or reducing the height or depth of portions of the sharply curved crests 12a and troughs 11b in one or more of the plates.
