Abstract

1,249,918. Addressing-machines; printing- apparatus. ADREMA-WERKE G.m.b.H. 18 Feb., 1969, [1 March, 1968], No. 8643/69. Heading B6C and B6D. An addressing-machine includes an impression surface 6 of resilient elastic material having a first outer layer of material having an A-Shore hardness of 30 to 50 and a second backing layer of material having an A-Shore hardness of 75 to 95. The impression surface may be on a flat platen as shown, or on a cylinder (10), Fig. 2 (not shown). Printing is effected on an envelope 7 or the like by an address plate 3 acting through an ink ribbon 4. The cylinder (10) of the alternative embodiment is movable across the envelope 7 through gearing (not shown). The first layer is 0À2 to 0À4 mm in thickness and may be formed of para rubber.
