Abstract
1,249,840. Knitting-machines. BARBER & NICHOLLS Ltd. 3 July, 1970 [18 Dec., 1969; 16 April, 1970], Nos. 61795/69 and 18151/70. Heading D1C. A circular machine having a yarn end suction device 32, and a serrated ring 30 and cooperating cutter blade includes a yarn trapper between the device and cutter. It is selectively operated to trap an elastic yarn, but is arranged so as not to impede other yarns being cut. The trapper enables elastic yarns incorporated in the top of a stocking to be held under the suction device when cut. The trapper comprises a plunger 42 spring urged into a recess 33b in plate 33 and withdrawn when necessary by a bowden cable 46. The end 41a of the plunger is frusto-conical and thereby avoids contact with other yarns, The plunger may alternatively be biased upwards to trap the yarn against the end of its holder. In an alternative arrangement a pivoted foot, notched to engage the yarn traps it against the plate 33. (For Figure see next column)
