Abstract

1,249,285. Container closures. W. BRAUN CO. 29 Jan., 1970, No. 4312/70. Heading B8T. A container and cap assembly comprises a cap 20 with a continuous constant pitch helical thread 23. The neck of the container has a constant pitch helical thread 12 in which there are gaps 14 at half turn intervals so that the gaps line up. The thread 12 has a sharp edge 17 on the leader edge of the thread and a tapered edge on the trailing edge 16 of the thread. The thread on the bottle neck is more rigid than the thread on the cap, so that when the cap is screwed on to the neck of the bottle the cap thread is distorted into the gaps 14 in the bottle thread, providing a seal in the thread.
