Abstract

1,247,232. Rolling; making metal strip. SUMITOMO METAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 23 Jan., 1969 [24 Jan., 1968], No. 3850/69. Headings B3A and B3M. Hot-rolled strip after passing hot finishing stands 1 and cooling sprays 3, and before being coiled at 4, is rolled in one or more additional stands 5. The strip is suitably rolled in the stands 5 at between 500‹ and 600‹ C. with a reduction of greater than 20%. To obtain a product having deep drawability, the strip is then either pickled, recrystallized and annealed, or is decarburizing annealed, cold rolled, annealed and temper rolled. The stands 5 can be prestressed and can incorporate tungsten carbide rolls.
