Abstract

[Also in Divisions A4 and F2] A device for securing an I-beam 20 to a channel beam 10 comprises two similarly shaped bracket-like members 26, 27 each having a centrally apertured rectangular flat portion 49 provided at one edge with means 50 for gripping a grooved portion of the channel beam and at an adjacent edge with an extension 51 having a centrally apertured portion 60 substantially at right angles to the portion 49 and spaced therefrom by a sloping portion 59, the two members 26, 27 being retained in engagement by a projecting portion 36, 37 of one member extending into a rectangular aperture 56 of the other member and being secured to the beams by fasteners 62 threaded into the apertures 55, 61 of the portions 49, 60. Each fastener may comprise an externally threaded, tapering tubular shank (64) (Fig. 4, not shown) having an external flange (65) at one end and an internal flange (66) which defines a hexagonal aperture (67) at the other end. The fasteners 62 may be of steel and the bracket-like members 26, 27 as well as the beams may be of aluminium.
