Abstract
1,246,028. Hollow charge rockets. LES FORGES DE ZEEBRUGGE S.A. 11 Dec., 1969 [27 Oct., 1969], No. 60562/69. Heading F3A. A rocket projectile having a hollow explosive charge 9 provided with a conical liner 7, is characterized by a deflecting element 10 embedded within the charge 9 at the end thereof remote from the liner, this element being in the form of a truncated cone the larger base of which is directed toward the liner and the smaller base toward a pin-point detonator 11. Preferred proportions are as follows: the bases are joined to the conical surface 29 by torusshaped connecting surfaces 30 of radius d 1 preferably between one and two times that of the smallest distance d 2 separating the element from the wall. The circle of intersection of the conical surface and the larger base coincides with the inner wall of the rocket casing. The distance d 3 from the larger base to the tip 8 of the liner is at least half the calibre b. Dimension d 2 is at least about <SP>1</SP>/ 15 of the casing inner diameter a. Distance d 1 between the two bases is at least “ the casing outer diameter b and preferably lies between half the inner and half the outer diameter. The inner surface of the casing has a conical surface 29<SP>1</SP> facing the conical surface 29 of the element. The element is preferably of metal but may be of synthetic material. The pin-point detonator 11 comprises a charge housed in a metal case having a cylindrical section 21 extended by a conical section 22 which is inserted into a corresponding recess in the explosive charge 9.
