1,244,868. Margarine fat. UNILEVER Ltd. 20 Dec., 1968 [23 Dec., 1967], No. 60577/68. Heading C5C. A margarine fat comprises (a) a liquid fat component containing at least 40% of polyunsaturated fatty acids and (b) 5-40% of a randomized hard fat component of mean carbon number 34-50, with a deviation of at most 20% of the mean carbon number, the hard fat being free of fatty acid residues containing 20 or more carbon atoms. In the examples, the liquid fat was sunflower or safflower oil and the hard fat was interesterified hardened coconut, groundnut, palm, sunflower or cottonseed oils or a synthetic hard fat containing mainly C 10 - C 18 fatty acid residues or an interesterified mixture of two or more of these.
