Abstract
124,423. Garelli, A. March 18, 1918, [Convention date]. Variable - speed ioothed gearing.- The slidable clutch 8 of a two-speed gear lor motorcycles &c. is operated by a slidable fork 10 provided with a pin 14 engaging an oblique slot 15 in a quadrant 16. The quadrant is mounted on a rocking-shaft 18 operated by a handle 17, and is provided with locking notches 21, 22, 23 engaged by a spring bolt 19. A gear having three or more speeds may be controlled by a similar quadrant having a number of curved slots which engage pins on the forks of clutches.
