Abstract
1300255 Positive clutch ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG 9 March 1970 [26 March 1969] 11198/70 Headings F2C and F2D] In a positive clutch, e,g, for a change-speed gear or a differential lock, of the type comprising pins 14 received in grooves 12, 13 formed in the gear casing 5 and a guide sleeve 11, (shown integral with the casing), for axial sliding into engagement with grooves 16 in one shaft bevel gear 8 to lock up the differential, the grooves 13 in casing 5 are extended axially to overlie grooves 16 to reduce the bending and shearing stress on the pins 14 when the lock is engaged; the pins 14 are mounted on a control ring 18 by grooves 20 in the pins to increase the contact surface between the pins and the ring, and; the ends 14<SP>1</SP> of the pins 14, and the grooves 16 are provided with corresponding recesses 16, 17 to render them self-locking. As shown, the control ring 18 is moved by a fork 21 on a sleeve 22 biased to the left by a spring 23 and to the right by co-operating cam surfaces 26, 27 on a control rod 24 and the sleeve 22 respectively, the rod 24 being turned by a lever 25. The ring 18 and/or fork 21 have a wear resistant, e.g. molybedenum, lining 28.
