Abstract
1,243,495. Transformers. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP. 18 March, 1970, No. 13053/70. Heading H1T. A method for electro-static shielding of miniature transformers comprises placing an inner winding (2, Fig. 1B, not shown) on a toroidal ferrite core, coating the winding and core with an insulation, electroless coating the insulated structure with a conductive material, scribing a gap 6 in the conductive material, electroplating the scribed structure with copper 7, insulating, 9, the electroplated structure, and forming an outer winding 10 on said insulated and plated structure. A final insulating and protective epoxy coating (12, Fig. 1H, not shown) is placed over said outer winding and thereafter cured. The electroplating step includes the step of securing a grounding tab 8 to the copper plating. The electroless coating material may be an electroless copper plating on which, after drying, is scribed the gap which prevents a shorted arm effect in the transformer. The insulated structure may be coated with a conductive material by means other than electroless plating means.
