Abstract

1,243,172. Swash-plate pumps and motors. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Aug.16, 1968 [July 12, 1967], No.32096/67. Heading F1A. In a pump or motor of the type in which a swashplate 12 engages the pistons in a rotating cylinder block, each spring-loaded piston 9 is hollow and slides telescopically on a stepped member 15 fixed to a ported end-plate 6 of the cylinder block, the annular spaces 19 formed between the members 15 and the cylinders being inter-connected so that leakage fluid contained in the spaces in use is expelled by pistons on their pressure stroke into the spaces 19 whose pistons are on their suction stroke to force the suction stroke pistons against the swash-plate 12. A lubrication passage 13 is provided through the ball end of each piston and communicates with a recess 14 in the associated slipper 11 for hydraulic balancing. The swashplate may be of adjustable inclination.
