Abstract

1374816 Reciprocating pumps DOWTY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 1 March 1972 [1 March 1971] 5653/71 Heading F1A In a swash-plate pump comprising a rotary cylinder block 2, Fig.1, with axial or inclined pistons 7 engaging a swash-plate 11 through slippers 15, hydro-kinetic pumping means 27 are provided in or on the block 2 to draw liquid from the inlet 26 over the swash-plate and discharge it to a zone 13, 28, Fig.2, communicating with the arcuate inlet port 29, a restricted vent 34 connecting zone 13, 28 to a low-pressure zone, e.g. a supply reservoir, to provide for a sufficient liquid flow over the swash-plate for cooling and lubrication at small or zero tilt angle of the swashplate. Bearing surfaces 3, 10 support the block in casing 1, and are cooled by flow through pumping passages 27. Swash-plate tilt is controlled by servopiston 21.
