Abstract

1,242,659. Fluid-pressure servomotor systems. FIAT SpA. Sept. 19, 1969 [Sept. 28, 1968; Aug. 6, 1969], No.46181/69. Heading G3P. A device for effecting relative rotation between a fuel injection pump operating cam 10a, and a drive-shaft 26, for automatically adjusting injection timing in accordance with engine speed, comprises a hollow shaft 11 housing a sleeve 46 which is connected by pin 50 to a slot in shaft 26, has a helical splined connection Fig. 4 (not shown) with the interior of the cam and is moved axially by a piston 45 which in turn is movable by the fluid-pressure transmitted to chamber 44 by a spool valve 36 operated by a centrifugal governor 35. Fig. 6 (not shown) illustrates a similar arrangement having a rod (63) movable by sleeve 46 and connected to an external device for indicating the degree of cam advance. Alternatively the rod can be used to provide an external control for moving sleeve 46 directly. In Fig. 5 (not shown) three radial cams (53-55) are mounted coaxially on shaft 11.
