Abstract

1,242,294. Valves. NORMALAIRGARRETT Ltd. 13 April, 1970 [28 April, 1969], No. 21538/69. Heading F2V. A non-return valve formed by spring-biased flaps 13 engaging a seat 11 is combined with a similar double-flap valve, the flaps 14 of which are normally held in the position shown by a yoke 15 mounted on a shaft 18. The latter is locked in position by a ball 21 engaging a detent in an extension 20 of a hand reset lever 19. The ball 21 is released by movement of a lever 23 on energization of a solenoid 26 so that a helical spring 27 can rotate the shaft 18 and permit the flaps 14 to engage seat 12 and thus prevent flow in both directions in passage 10. The solenoid may be replaced by a pneumatic actuator and the lever 23 may be dispensed with in which case the detent is engaged by a sphericallyended rod forming part of the actuator. External needles 28 on the valve shafts indicate the positions of the flaps.
