Abstract

1,242,184. Coiling and delivering slivers. SANT'ANDREA NOVARA OFFICINE MECCANICHE E FONDERIE S.p.A. 22 April, 1969, No. 20599/69. Headings DIF and DIN. Slivers delivered by a set of combing, drawing or like fibre-preparing machines arranged in parallel are directed by alternative guide apparatus either to respective, individual cans or like receptacles wherein sliver is coiled or stored preparatory to transportation of filled cans &c, to a further processing machine, or directly onto an endless conveyor common to all the machines whereby the slivers are conveyed to a common collecting station or processing machine. As shown, sliver A passes through condenser calender rolls (11) thence along either an upwardly inclined channel 12 or a downwardly inclined channel 17 to pass either through a guide 13 and calender rolls 14, and over forked guides 15, 16, to a device 4 whereby it is fed with a hypocycloid movement into a rotating can 5, or to another (forked) guide which directs the sliver onto an endless conveyor 8, which comprises a continuous loop band passing over driving and idling rollers and travelling on its upper run between retaining guides 9, the collected slivers being pressed at intervals against the conveyor by rollers 10.
