Abstract
1,242,141. Coating by vapour deposition. JONES & LAUGHLIN STEEL CORP. Aug. 28, 1968 [Aug. 29, 1967], No.41166/68. Heading C7F. Mg, Mn, Ca, Te, Cr or Zn is vapour deposited from a crucible on to a substrate of e.g. steel by forming an alloy with at least 15% of another metal to give a melting temperature lower than that of the coating metal, and at the melting point of the alloy a vapour pressure lower than that of the coating metal. The alloys are Mg-Al, Mn-Ni, Ca-Al, Ca-Ag, Ca-Cu, Zn-Sn, Te-Sn, and Cr-Ti.
