Abstract
1,241,922. Collapsible packing cases. GEORG UTZ A.G. 25 Nov., 1969 [27 Nov., 1968], No. 57551/69. Heading B8P. A collapsible packing case comprises a base 1 having an upstanding flange 5 at each side, a pair of inwardly collapsible sides 2 hinged to the flanges 5 and a pair of inwardly collapsible ends 3 having headed pins 6 slidable in vertical slots 7 in the sides 2, and pins 8 slidable in horizontal grooves 9 in the flanges 5. Catches 13 on the ends 3 engage with catches 12 on the base 1 when the case is erected. The transverse edges of the base 1 may also be fitted with flanges 14 which are lower than flanges 5. Stiffening ribs 15 on the sides and 16 on the ends may be extended to form hinge blocks 17 and the catches 13 respectively. The terminal portions of slots 7 may also be adapted to act as hinge blocks (Fig. 4, not shown). To facilitate stacking the underside of the base 1 is provided with rings 19 to fit round studs 20 on the tops of the sides and a locating shoulder 18 corresponding to the internal dimensions of the case.
