Abstract

124,008. Higgins, F. C. Jan. 10, 1918. Machine guns; sights.-Relates to mountings for pairs of jointly-operated machine guns, and consists in providing a frame for holding the guns in fixed relation to one another, this frame being manipulated by a central butt-stock or spade-grip, and having a pistol-grip fitted with a master trigger for actuating the firing-mechanism of both guns. Fig. 1 shows in full lines a plan of a frame for holding two Lewis guns, the guns being shown in chain lines. The frame comprises a front member 3 connected with a rear member 7 by longitudinal rods 19, 34, and is provided with a central pair of sights, the foresight 27 being carried on a muzzle yoke 28, and the back sight 25 being adjustably mounted on a tube 26 fixed to the front frame member 3. The cocking. handles 22 of the guns are simultaneously operated by projections 21 on a sliding frame 20 which carries a central handle 23, whereby it is moved rearwards on the rods 19 against the action of a tension spring x. The rear frame-member 7 carries a central detachable spade grip 11 and a pistol-grip 8, the latter being fitted with a master trigger connected to a transverse shaft which rocks in a bearing 13 and carries cranked extensions 14 contacting with sliding members 15 which operate the ordinary triggers of the guns.
