Abstract

1,239,492. Protective clothing. J. CHARNLEY. 6 Nov., 1969 [19 April, 1969], No. 20116/69. Addition to 1,208,284. Heading A3V. [Also in Division A5] Protective clothing of the type disclosed in Specification 1,208,284 for protecting an environment from contamination by a wearer comprises a gown 40, Fig. 4, having integral sleeves 45 and hood 42 with an aperture 43, and a face mask, Fig. 2, fitting in the hood aperture and having connections 28 for a suction line for drawing air from the region of the wearer's face and for cooling the wearer by causing an upward air current over his body, a tab or tape 46 being attached inside each sleeve 44 and a further tab or tape 47 being attached inside a body part of the gown. The tabs ortapes are used to ease the donning of the clothing and are brightly coloured with tabs 46 located about halfway along the inside rear surface of the body portion. The face mask has a disposable plastics window 22 apertured at 23 for the upflow of air via gaps 25, 26 to the wearer's nose. The window 22 may cover only part of the opening in the mask or may be omitted entirely. The mask is supported by a malleable metal strip 31 having a foamed plastics material pad 32. A projecting pin 33 on the mask locates in an eyelet 34 in a reinforced surround 43a of aperture 43.
