Abstract

1,239,274. Valves. KLOCKNER WERKE A.G. 18 Oct., 1968 [19 Oct., 1967; 20 Feb., 1968], No. 49539/68. Heading F2V. A valve comprises a length of elastic tube 3, Fig. 1, having its ends tightly held in a casing 1 and a deformable closure member 10 formed integrally with the tube, one or more passages 20, 21 in the closure member being restricted or closed when fluid pressure is applied to the external surface of the tube. 0-rings 2 are inserted between flanges 6, 7 on covers 4, 5 held by tie-bolts against the ends of the casing 1. The parts of the valve may be made from synthetic plastics material. A valve 130, Fig. 8 (not shown), of this type and a valve 131 of the type described in Specification 1,239,275 may be used to control a ram 134. When the valve 131 is open, pressure in a branch pipe 138 closes the valve 130 and fluid is supplied by a pump 132 to the ram. Closure of the valve 131 opens the valve 130 to connect the ram 134 to exhaust 136. A valve 117 of the type shown in Fig. 1 may be controlled by two further valves of the same type to connect a pump 115, Fig. 5 (not shown), to a pit prop or ram. The valve 117 is closed while low-pressure servo fluid is applied to it from a line 120 through the valve 118 and a line 125. To open the valve 117, pressure is applied to a line 124 and withdrawn from a line 121 to close the valve 118 and open the valve 119 which connects the line 125 to exhaust 123.
