Abstract

1,135,811. Fluid pressure control valves etc. DAVID F. WISEMAN & SONS Ltd. 2 Jan., 1967 [1 Jan., 1966], No.14/66. Heading F2V. A butterfly valve comprises a valve body 10, defining a cylindrical flow passage 11, and, pivoted on shafts 13a and 13b, a butterfly closure member 12, the latter being made from a closed cylindrical-like body member which has defined within it two spaces 16, separated by a web 17, which spaces serve to reduce the flow obstruction when the valve is open i.e. when member 12 is turned through 90‹ from position shown. Annular rebates, (24, Fig. 3, not shown), formed in each end face of the body 10, together with rings (22), fixed to the end faces, define annular channel sections which are used to accommodate rubber faced seating rings (25). With the valve closed, peripheral edges 26 of the butterfly abut the rings (25) and so provide sealing engagement in two spaced apart planes, (C-C, D-D, Fig. 3, not shown), between the body 10 and butterfly 12. The rings (22) can be fastened to pipes to connect the valve in a fluid flow line.
