Abstract

1,237,666. Printing apparatus. MARKEM CORP. 27 Jan., 1970 [22 April, 1969], No. 3946/70. Heading B6C. Pharmaceutical capsules or tablets are printed on two sides or faces simultaneously by being passed between co-operating printing members 60, 61. A rotating disc 50 has radial channels in its upper surface, and rotates within a peripheral wall 55, gapped only adjacent the printing members 60, 61. As each channel in turn passes the gap, the outermost of a series of capsules in it is passed to the printing members Further capsules are fed to the centre of the disc 50, and are flung outward by centrifugal force to enter the channels. Preferably the printing members 60, 61 are resilient-surfaced offset cylinders, and may be divided into sections 60a, 60b, 61a, 61b. The offset cylinders receive images from engraved gravure cylinders 62, each of which is inked from a pressurized supply and wiped by a revolving doctor roller. Excess ink is returned to a supply reservoir and recirculated.
