Abstract

1320615 Printing processes and apparatus JAPAN MINISTRY OF FINANCE PRINTING BUREAU 2 July 1971 [3 July 1970] 31023/71 Heading B6C A printing plate 1 for printing bank-notes, postage stamps, securities, etc., so that forgery is difficult, has the known gravure printing surface with its ink-receiving cells 2 of varying depths, and in addition a number of intaglio lines 3 which may vary in depth engraved thereon. In use, the plate is attached to a printing cylinder 4 and inks of different colours are supplied thereto by rollers 5, 6, 7 which have relief patterns thereon, so that each roller inks a different part of the plate. A wiping roller 8 removes surplus ink from the non-image area of the plate. Ink of high viscosity, as used in intaglio printing, preferably is employed.
