Abstract

1300819 Printing apparatus OWENS ILLINOIS Inc 15 July 1970 [5 Dec 1969] 34368/70 Heading B6C Cylindrical or conical-surfaced articles are rotated as they pass a helical printing plate on a plate cylinder 13, and the speeds of advance and rotation of the articles and of rotation of the cylinder 13 are so co-ordinated that the helical printing plate 14 on the cylinder 13 makes a desired non-helical imprint on each article. The cylinder 13 may carry two plates, inked in different colours to produce superimposed images. Plastics material cups are removed from nested supply 15 by rolling engagement of their rims 29 with grooves 27, 28 in feed members 18, 20 and are partially separated and advanced by opening-out of the grooves 27, 28 along the length of the rotating feed members. The helical plate 14 may flexographic, and be inked by fountain roller 11 and forme roller 13.
