A power plant for a land vehicle includes an internal-combustion engine power unit 1, a gas turbine power unit 2 and a gear box 3 the units being arranged one behind the other with an output shaft 5 of the gas turbine unit projecting coaxially through a hollow output shaft 4 of the internal combustion engine power unit. Both the output shafts are adapted to be connected individually or together to a common output shaft of the gear-box. The hollow output shaft of the internal combustion engine power unit may be adapted to be connected by means of an hydraulic converter (not shown) to the common output shaft of the gear-box. The internal combustion engine power unit 1 may be a composite unit consisting of two V-type engines arranged side by side, with a common crank-case.
