Abstract

1,237,353. Paper board. GRAIN PROCESSING CORP. 7 Jan., 1969 [15 Jan, 1968], No. 1020/69. Heading D2B. [Also in Division C3] Starch is modified with maleic anhydride in the presence of an alkali at a pH of 7 to 11. A fibrous board uses starch so modified as a binder. It may be made on a papermaking machine. The preparation of boards from mineral wool with a clay filler and starch binders is described comparisons being drawn between starch maleate, unmodified corn starch, tapioca starch and formaldehydemodified starch.
