Abstract

1,237,258. Coating. USUI KOKUSAI SANGYO K.K. and KUBOKO PAINT CO. Ltd. 7 June, 1968 [16 Oct., 1967], No. 27153/68. Heading B2E. [Also in Division C7] A coated powder comprises 80-97 parts by weight of metal or alloy powder and 1-5 parts by weight of a synthetic resin, the particles of said metal or alloy powder being coated with said resin, and the coated powder being at least 90% by weight of 80-300 BSS mesh size. The synthetic resin may be an acrylic polymer or copolymer, a vinyl polymer or copolymer, a vinyl acetal polymer, a partial reaction product of a phenol resin and hexamethylenetetramine, or a partial reactant of an epoxy resin with an amine or a polyamide. The metal or alloy powder may be of phosphor bronze, copper powder, nickel powder, or nickel silver. The particle size of the metal or alloy powder is suitably in the range 100-400 BSS mesh. The powder may be coated by employing a spraying method in which the synthetic resin is dissolved in a solvent and using a drying chamber containing a heated atmosphere or by a stirring method in which the synthetic resin, organic solvent and powder are introduced into a kneader.
