Abstract
PURPOSE: To contrive to enhance coating capacity of a boundary part between a powder paint coating and an electrodeposition paint coating by a method wherein a powder paint is painted electrostatically and, after painting, painting property of an electrodeposition paint succeedingly painted to a nonpainted part and a thin coating part is improved.
CONSTITUTION: In a painting method wherein a powder paint is electrostatically painted on a metal 1 to be painted and, after a coating is formed, a non-painted part 3 and a thin coating part 2' are subjected to electrodeposition painting, 5W50wt% of a conductive powder 4 (e.g., particulate carbon black, a zinc powder) having a particle size in a range of from 5μ or more to a size smaller than a thickness of a powder paint coating is contained in the powder paint to be subjected to electrostatic painting. The resulting powder paint is subjected to electrostatic painting and electrodeposition painting is subsequently carried out only on the non-painted part 3 and the thin coating part 2' of the electrostatic powder paint coating 2. As the result, a paint coating with a sufficient thickness is also formed to a boundary part of the powder painting coating and the electrodeposition coating and the paint coating with excellent corrosion resistance can be obtained.
