Abstract

1,237,215. Non-woven pile fabrics. COURTAULDS Ltd. 18 Oct., 1968 [19 July, 1967], No. 33185/67. Heading D1R. A method of producing a raised fabric comprises laying a wadding on a backing fabric and needling the wadding through the backing fabric to produce a pile on the reverse side the wadding having been needled prior to being needled through the backing fabric. The backing fabric is preferably a plain weave fabric of natural or synthetic fibres. The wadding may contain natural or synthetic staple fibres or mixtures thereof, examples given are viscose rayon and polyacrylonitrile fibres. The preneedling of the wadding may be effected by using differing needle penetrations or using different length needles in the same board. The needles employed have their barbs close to their points.
