Abstract

Rafts.-A reversible life raft is constructed of a framework of beams B enclosing a series of tanks D so as to form a central well or chamber fitted with a flooring or deck H capable of being raised and lowered by means of tackle &c. The upper and lower surfaces of the raft are flat, to enable it to be launched easily. The sides are formed mainly of strong netting L, and life-lines &c. may be provided. The tanks contain water, provisions, &c.
